Oliver Davis may only be 5 years old, but he is already on the lookout in his community.

Together with his K-9 partner, Ruby, Oliver Davis helps patrol his neighborhood in his police officer uniform and mini motorcycle. He was even named an honorary police officer by the local force where he got to participate in police training.

After learning about K-9 partners, the 5-year-old knew he had to have one.

“[Oliver] learned that some police have K-9s, and he’s like, ‘I have to have a partner,'” Brandi Davis, his mother, told Inside Edition.

Since being brought home, Ruby has attended behavioral classes. Oliver Davis also spends some one-on-one time with Ruby training her to be a police dog.

“He tries to work on basic commands,” Brandi Davis told Inside Edition. “He thinks he’s training her to be a real police officer, teaching her to sit and lay down.”

Oliver Davis and Ruby spend their days together making sure everything is going smoothly in town.

“I am trying to look for bad guys. I have some handcuffs and I want to see if there is any bad guys I can handcuff,” Oliver Davis said to Fox 6 Now.

Oliver Davis’ main job on the police force is to “help spread kindness to those in need” by visiting the local nursing homes. Right now Ruby is “too jumpy” to accompany Daivs on his visits, but he plans to bring her when she is older.

When Oliver Davis isn’t visiting the elderly, he likes to hang out with Ruby at the park. During their downtime, Ruby and Oliver check for speeding cars with his radar gun or pose for some pictures.

“He’s outside in the motorcycle most days, and Ruby’s with us,” Brandi Davis said to Inside Edition.

Hopefully, Oliver Davis’ acts of kindness will inspire others in the community.

“People see a lot of negativity on the internet. When people see Oliver they see something different,” Brandi Davis told Your Daily Dish. “People want to see policemen as the good guys like he does and it makes them feel really good when they see him doing good deeds like passing out flowers to the nursing home.”

She continued, “We are really proud of him that he loves to brighten up someone’s day by bringing flowers. He asked if was ok to give hugs to them also when we went. I had many people tell me through their tears that this made their week!”

With Ruby by his side, his dreams of becoming a police officer are becoming more of a reality.

“I’m gonna still be a police officer when I grow up,” Oliver Davis said to Fox 6 Now.
