The film, which stars Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence as two humans who wake up 90 years early during an interstellar journey, has been teased as a hybrid of romantic-comedy and sci-fi epic. The trailer puts both genres on full display, showing some – no pun intended – down-to-Earth romantic chemistry between the leads on a date before jumping into sci-fi, action elements of the plot, including large explosions, a robot bartender, and numerous zero-gravity sequences.

Passengers was directed by Morten Tyldum (The Imitation Game) and stars Michael Sheen and Laurence Fishburne in addition to Pratt and Lawrence. The film is scheduled for release December 21.
