Pregnancy is no easy feat. I’m a guy and even I know that. Women have a litany of things they have to go through over the long nine months of pregnancy. Being fat-shamed should not be one of them.
But unfortunately, that’s what happened recently to Katie Fehlinger, a weather news anchor for the CBS affiliate in Philadelphia. At 35 weeks pregnant, Fehlinger began receiving disrespectful, disturbing, and just plain horrible messages online that, simply put, no woman pregnant or otherwise should have to endure. It got so bad, Fehlinger decided she needed to speak up.

What happened next was amazing!
Almost overnight Fehlinger’s Facebook post went viral with thousands of people “Liking” and “Sharing” the post. Fehlinger expressed her gratitude in another post the following day, thanking the millions of moms out there for their support and sending in their own pregnancy pictures.

What started out as simply venting some frustration, turned into a poignant reminder about love, motherhood, compassion, and beauty.
“You are beautiful.”
Everybody, at times, needs a gentle reminder of that fact.
UPDATE: Since the original story went public, Fehlinger has since given birth to two healthy baby girls.
