Most of us hate the thought of going to the dentist but perhaps if we were entertained or somehow soothed while under the drill, we may be able to endure the pain. Dr. Milad Shadrooh — also known as the ‘Singing Dentist’ of Chequers Dental in Basingstoke, England — has made a side business out of making his patients feel at ease with song parodies about dental care.

His latest parody to the tune of Ed Sheeran’s Shape of You has caused quite a viral stir from the other side of the pond on Facebook’s Viral Thread. The video has received over 1 million views, 33,000 likes and almost 16,000 shares.

It shows Dr. Shadrooh in his blue dentist’s smock mugging for the camera as his eyebrows begin to dance to the opening conga beat of Sheeran’s song — which he recently performed live at the 59th Annual Grammy Awards.

The lyrics — which are posted along to Shadrooh’s singing — begin, “The dentist isn’t your favorite place and I know you don’t want to go. Me and my nurse sittin’ here we’re wonderin’ why you hate us so.”

Dr. Shadrooh has a substantial fan club with his own Facebook page @singingdentistmil where he posted the video as well. There he received almost 5 million views and 1,500 likes.

Some of his hardcore fans commented, “HE’S BACCKKK!!,” ”Your favorite, but with an added mix?. Kinda makes the dentist less terrifying haha xxxxx.”

Fellow dentist Saeedah Naseem was on her way to help refugees in northern Greece  for the U.K.-based charity Dental Mavericks and became inspired by it. She wrote, “Haha maybe I need to do this with my patients.”

This isn’t the first parody Dr. Shadrooh has done. As the principal dentist and owner at Chequers Dental — known for providing a high level of general dental care in a relaxed environment —  he prides himself “in making dentistry fun and promoting oral health in an entertaining way.”

Other parodies he has done have included, “Wanna Do Some Teeth Whitening” to the tune of Michael Jackson’s Wanna Be Starting Something, and “Gappy” to the tune of Pharrell’s Happy. He sings, “you can prevent gingivitis. Just book an appointment with a hygienist.”

Dr. Milad Shadrooh also knows a thing or two about self-promotion. He has a YouTube channel which features all of his parodies, and an Instagram account. On his website, you can purchase merchandise like a Singing Dentist Mug for $9.35 — already sold out — and a 2017 calendar with his face on it for $14.33. Proceeds from the merchandise will support the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.

As a result of this viral video, maybe Dr. Milad Shadrooh’s practice of singing will catch on in the U.S.
