When Rachel Winterbottom heard her sister Hayley O’Brien was getting married, she wanted to do something very memorable and unique for the wedding toast.
Winterbottom explained at the beginning of the video below that maid of honor speeches aren’t all that common in the United Kingdom. When she looked up some ideas for what to do, she learned it was all about the toast. After a little brainstorming, she thought it would be nice to sing the toast. There seemed to be one problem with that idea though, Winterbottom can’t sing.
Her solution? She created a killer rap to Vanilla Ice’s “Ice Ice Baby.”
“Alright, stop. Grab your drink and listen.” Winterbottom rapped, replacing the classic lyrics, “ice ice baby” with “they’re married, baby.”
Winterbottom placed details about the couple’s personalities into the almost five-minute performance.
“H (Hayley) is hot like a candle / Paul’s laid back so its easy to handle,” Winterbottom rapped about O’Brien’s husband. “Love it or hate it Paul’s always in the gym / He trains like a beast just ask our Kim / If there was a problem they can solve it / Pass H the wine she’ll always involve it.”
Just like most classic wedding speeches, Winterbottom brought up some favorite memories in the rap. O’Brien shared with BuzzFeed “that her favorite part was when Rachel rapped about her throwing up into her bag.”
“We are very close. We love doing things together, especially nights out,” she told BuzzFeed.
O’Brien shared that she loved the toast, embarrassing details included.
“I loved every minute of it, she was brilliant,” O’Brien said. “I knew she was doing a speech, but I just assumed it would be a standard wedding speech.”
It was definitely a highlight from the wedding.
“Everyone else who did a speech did a really good job, but Rachel’s was definitely the talking point,” Hayley shared.
