Three years after her NYPD officer husband was horrifically murdered in cold blood, Pei Xia Chen AKA Sanny Liu used in-vitro fertilization to give birth to their beautiful baby girl.

In December 2014, Chen’s husband, Officer Wenjian Liu, 32, and Officer Rafael Ramos, 40, were shot to death while sitting in a marked patrol car in Brooklyn, New York.

According to a post on the NYPD’s official Facebook page, on the night of her husband’s death, the devastated Chen was able to pull herself together enough to ensure that she would still be able to give birth to her husband’s child.

“The night of the incident, she requested that her husband’s semen be preserved, so that she might, one day, have his child,” the NYPD said.

The post goes on to detail a seemingly prophetic dream Chen had shortly thereafter, regarding her then-potential pregnancy. The post explains, “The night after Detective Liu passed away, she had a dream, in which he handed her a baby girl. “I got pregnant through the [in-vitro fertilization] procedure,” said Sanny, “and I told my friend, ‘It’s going to be a baby girl.’ My friend said, ‘No, you haven’t even checked the sonograms,’ but I was right!”

Pei Xia Chen’s dream came to fruition on July 25, 2017 when she gave birth to a daughter named Angelina.

Chen’s mother-in-law Xiu Yan Li told the NY Daily News, “Her name is Angelina, like an angel, like my son is an angel, I’m just so happy.”

The NYPD’s Facebook post wraps up with talk about Officer Liu’s legacy, and the link his family will always have with the department. “Sanny can’t wait to tell Angelina that her father was a hero. She is also eager to introduce her daughter to the New York City Police Department that she lovingly refers to as her “big blue family.”
